We Are Admitting PhD in Public Policy for the 2022/23 Spring Intake


We are recruiting one PhD student for the 2022/23 Spring Intake to work on an interdisciplinary project named “Towards a more inclusive Hong Kong: COVID-19, mental well-being, and mitigation strategies for a multicultural elderly community”. This project is to reveal the unequal impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental well-being of the elderly (aged 65 and above) population in Hong Kong, depending on their ethnic backgrounds: Indians, Pakistanis and Nepalese versus local ethnic Chinese.


Applicants must have the following experience or training: 


  1. Bachelor’s degree in any of these fields: psychology/ psychiatry/ demography/ sociology / social policy / social work / public health/anthropology; candidates with Master’s degrees in any of these fields will have an advantage.
  2. Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, including focus group discussion, interviews + transcriptions, and cross-sectional surveys.
  3. Strong interest in interdisciplinary research, especially in social policy, public health, ethnic studies, psychology, sociology, and demography.
  4. Be comfortable conducting firsthand research with elderly individuals of different backgrounds and ethnicities.
