PPOL held a seminar on 9 December 2022 titled, “Trafficking Data: How China is Winning the Battle for Digital Sovereignty”, inviting Professor Aynne Kokas, the C.K. Yen Professor at the Miller Center and the associate professor of media studies at the University of Virginia, to discuss her book of the same name. Around 60 participants joined the seminar via Zoom, and thought-provoking topics were discussed during the Q&A session. Professor Masaru Yarime was the moderator of the event.
 

Data for Policy 2022 Conference Asia-Pacific was a great success, with more than 50 participants joining in-person and online. This year the Data for Policy Conference were organized in three locations - Hong Kong, Seattle, and Brussels - in close collaboration with University College London, The Alan Turing Institute, University of Cambridge, New York University, University of Washington, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Lisbon Council, European Commission, OECD, and HKUST. 

Professor Naubahar Sharif (Acting Head of PPOL) was awarded a 3-year research grant by the HKUST Center for Aging Science entitled “Towards a more inclusive Hong Kong: COVID-19, mental well-being, and mitigation strategies for a multicultural elderly community”.

A team led by Professor Naubahar Sharif (Acting Head of PPOL) has officially commenced a 24-month mental health project titled "MindMatters" on April 1, 2022. 

On 18 May 2022, the Division of Public Policy (PPOL) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held an online info session about the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program, the Master of Public Management (MPM) program, and the HKUST Public Policy Fellowship Program.
