China Newborns Fell by 15% Last Year. The Trend Is Temporarily Difficult To Reverse

SOSC and PPOL Prof. Stuart GIETEL-BASTEN’s comments on China’s record low birth rate last year, saying the statistics are in line with a general global downward trend as a result of the pandemic in 2020, but he expects the drop will ease off in coming years.  He added that downward structural trend is likely to continue because the number of childbearing women is declining.
