It is a surprising honor to be selected for this scholarship. I didn’t expect to receive the news at the orientation, and I think it is an affirmation of my previous efforts as well as accomplishments as an incoming student with both humanities and social science backgrounds.
Apart from high GPAs achieved during previous academic journey, I have also published articles in major media outlets and completed internships across public media, academic institutions, and think tanks. These experiences have helped me develop my academic and professional interests from a broad engagement with the social sciences, to a more concentrated focus on international politics, and ultimately towards green policy within a global context.
It is this evolving focus that led me to choose the Master of Public Policy program at HKUST PPOL as my second master’s degree. With the aspiration to be a researcher in the field of international green governance, I aim to deepen my training in quantitative methods and gain more diverse perspectives on environmental and sustainable policy.
All in all, this scholarship reaffirms my decision to join HKUST PPOL, and I am excited to further develop my capabilities over the next two years while also contributing to our academic community.
