We are delighted to share that Professor Alex Jingwei He of the Division of Public Policy (PPOL) has been awarded the Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellowship by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong. The fellowship amounts to HK$669,200, recognizing Prof. He’s outstanding scholarly achievements and furthering PPOL’s mission to advance impactful public policy research.
Prof. He’s project investigates China’s national health policy reforms since 2009, with a particular focus on the roles of governance and political economy in shaping these transformations. The project is expected to result in a monograph published by a leading academic press and aims to generate insights relevant to the lives of over 1.4 billion people.
A policy scholar ranked among the world’s top 2% most-cited researchers, Prof. He received an “internationally outstanding” rating in Hong Kong’s Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2020.
This prestigious recognition underscores HKUST-PPOL’s continued dedication to addressing complex policy challenges through rigorous and high-impact research.
