New research project on Global Innovation and Technology Hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area

A new research project, "Accelerating the Development of a Global Innovation and Technology Hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area: The Roles of Public Research Universities in Hong Kong," has been funded by HKSAR Policy Innovation and Coordination Office Strategic Public Policy Research Funding Scheme (SPPR). Facing the unprecedented opportunities posed by the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Initiative, the project aims to provide a roadmap to guide efforts and strengthen the roles of public research universities in Hong Kong to accelerate the development of a global innovation and technology hub in the GBA. By taking a systematic and comparative approach, this project seeks to scrutinize global innovative universities as well as leading innovation and technology hubs, and identify global and regional good practices that are of relevance to Hong Kong. The investigators of the project are Professor Xun Wu (PI), Professor Anthony Cheung, Professor Joshua Ka Ho Mok, Professor Rui Yang, Professor Naubahar Sharif, Professor Masaru Yarime, Professor Edwin Lai, Professor Baojian Xie, and Dr Christopher Tremewan. The project is expected to begin from 1st April 2019 and last for 36 months. The amount of approved funding is HK$4,374,000.
