The Division of Public Policy of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), together with the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), cordially invite you to attend the following Policy Dialogue Series featuring Professor Anthony Cheung, former Secretary for Transport and Housing (2012-17) and former President of EdUHK as well as Professor Lui Tai-lok, Adjunct Research Chair Professor and former Vice President (Research and Development) of EdUHK.

In his major address to Hong Kong on 1 July 2022, President Xi Jinping emphasized the need to care about the young generation and expressed hope that all of Hong Kong’s young people “will devote themselves to building Hong Kong into a better home, writing a rewarding chapter of their life with impassioned youth” (
投身到建設美好香港的行列中來,用火熱的青春書寫精彩的人生). Young people are the future of our society. What are their aspirations and most pressing concerns today? How can a more conducive environment be fostered to enable them to build their hope and stake in the city?

About the speakers and moderator
 
Anthony Cheung
(張炳良教授)is currently the Chair Professor and Advisor (Public Administration) of the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong and the Adjunct Professor of the Division of Public Policy of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He was the Secretary for Transport and Housing of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government from July 2012 to June 2017 and the President of The Education University of Hong Kong (then known as Hong Kong Institute of Education) from January 2008 to June 2012.
 
Sharon Cheung
(張靜雲女士) is currently researcher at the Youth Research Centre of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.
 
Vincent Chong
(莊業豐先生) is a social worker and solicitor. As Manager (Social Work) of Project Change - a multi-disciplinary non-profit initiative offering complimentary services to youths arrested during the protests in 2019 - he has practical experience in handling cases of those youths as well as cases involving juvenile delinquency. He understands the challenges related to rehabilitation and reintegration, and instilling hope in youth clients.
 
Choi Sau-ching
(蔡秀青女士) is an independent policy advocate who writes frequently in the local media.
 
 
Lui Tai-lok
(呂大樂教授)is the Adjunct Research Chair Professor of the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong. From April 2016 to June 2021, he was Vice-President (Research and Development) of the University.
 
Isabella Ng
(伍鳳嫦副教授) is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies of The Education University of Hong Kong.
 
 
 
About the Policy Dialogue Series
The two universities co-host The Policy Dialogue Series which began in 2018-19 and is now into its seventh annual series. Professor Anthony Cheung and Professor Lui Tai-lok are joined by other speakers in the relevant fields to explore the critical issues and public policy challenges facing Hong Kong. Professor Anthony Cheung

Anthony Cheung (張炳良教授)is currently the Chair Professor and Advisor (Public Administration) of the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong and the Adjunct Professor of the Division of Public Policy of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Professor Lui Tai-lok

Lui Tai-lok (呂大樂教授)is the Adjunct Research Chair Professor of the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong. From April 2016 to June 2021, he was Vice-President (Research and Development) of the University.
